Ryerson's Letterpress Course Students Visited HIW Museum
Howard Iron Works Museum welcomed Ryerson's Prof. Art Seto and the students from the Letterpress Course. Having learned to set type and print on a Kelsey press and other presses in class, the students were eager to try to print on a floor model platen press.
The students had an amazing time trying and learning to print on an 1887 Golding Jobber No. 6, fully restored. It didn't take some of the students long to get the concept of using the flywheel and pedal. Some took a little longer, but overall, the students had fun, while having an experience to print on a 130-year old press - the way the letterpress printers did over a century ago.
