Workshops

We are pleased to offer a series of workshops during the Print Expo & Fair 2019. We are truly fortunate to have a group of very capable instructors who will be holding the workshops. All classes will be one-hour long and tailored to participants 12 years and older. Participation will be limited to 6-8 per workshop at the discretion of the instructor.

Each workshop will cost $20 per person, and include all materials required to complete the project being taught – no additional material fees are to be charged.

Participants will create a fascinating Hinge Book. When opened, the book revolves around a hinge and takes on the look of a star; but remove the hinge pin, and the book displays as an accordion!

Relief Printing Workshop - 12:00 noon

In relief printing the ink sits on the top surface of a plate or block that has been carved. It can add bold personality to personal stationery or create dramatic artistic prints. Students will learn about different plate materials and carve a simple design in a soft printing plate.

Have you heard about the mysterious powder that has the capability of transforming paper into cloth? Konnyaku is a powdered root starch that has been used in Japan for centuries to make kamiko, paper clothing. It is non-toxic, requires no cooking, and is easy to use.
