At any given time, our Restoration Team works on several projects simultaneously. For historical and archival purposes, our HIW photographer diligently takes pictures during the restoration and documents the various processes each machine is being put through. We have compiled the photos in a photo gallery for each machine. We hope you enjoy them.

The Hogenforst Rapid was built employing the "Boston Principle" arrangement, by a German company - Maschinenfabrik A. Hogenforst of Leipzig. The company also produced a large variety of guillotines and equipment for the woodworking industry. The letterpress platens were a success, and were sold all over Germany mainly to smaller printshops and hobbyists.
Our RAPID is such an example - well-made and was available to be sold as both a table-top or with optional base and treadle, a floor model. Further research is required, but based on the information we have on hand, we assume our press was from the 1920s.
Featured here is the restoration of the Hogenforst Rapid Platen Press.
