Klein, Forst & Bohn Cylinder Press - Johannisberg, Germany

Age: circa 1859

The bed and cylinder design was first crudely designed by Nicholson, an Englishman, but was much improved by Friedrich König, who in subsequent years, returned to Germany, and with his engineer partner, Andreas Bauer went on to form König & Bauer - known today as KBA. Many manufacturers made their own versions of cylinder press, including Klein, Forst & Bohn in Johannisberg. Our Klein, Forst & Bohn press employs a series of gears, in horizontal position - also referred to as the planetary gear arrangement.
