Liberty Folder Company Model 289 Folder - Sydney, Ohio

Age: circa 1926, Serial No. 3872, Size 19”

Built by Liberty Folder Co.

Russell Ernest Baum, a Philadelphia salesman, took the US folding industry and turned it upside down. Thanks to a clever little folder and avant garde marketing (he regularly took his machines on the road for demos). Although not instrumental in designing or building the early folders, Baum, representing the manufacturer, Liberty Folder Company, distanced himself from the few lethargic manufacturers of the day and went on to near dominance in the north American folder market.
